I had the best mini vacation last week and I didn’t even have to leave Aspen, Colorado.
I have lived and worked in the Roaring Fork Valley for the past 15 years. I don’t always to take the time to enjoy all that Aspen has to offer. An old friend was coming to town last week with his wife. They could only spend one night and they wanted to make the most of their time.
I had to work that day but I met them for lunch. We went to Taster’s Pizza because it is close to my office and they make amazing pizzas and salads. I returned to work and my friends went to the Maroon Bells for a short hike and to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Their photos were amazing!
Later that afternoon, we checked into our condo. We had booked a 2 bedroom at the Aspen Square. It was absolutely gorgeous and really quite affordable.
We talked about the “good old days” in our super comfy living room while enjoying the view of Aspen Mountain and the Silver Queen Gondola.
Later, we went to Ruth’s Chris Steak house. I heard they had an excellent, affordable bar menu. The food and service were great. Gio, the bartender, made the perfect wine recommendations. We were also treated to a solo performance by the very talented singer, songwriter Tom Ressell. He plays every Friday and Saturday night. I can’t wait to go back for more live music, Lobster Bisque, and excellent wine.
My friends left early the next morning but I was still in vacation mode. I picked up a bike from D&E sports and I went for a little trail ride east of Aspen. What fun!
I wasn’t quite ready to head back to my mid valley home so I met up with some friends for lunch at The Big Wrap. (Love those citrus corn chips.) We then checked out the Peter Lik Gallery before catching a movie next door at the Isis Theater.
Alas, it was 4:00, time to go home to weed the flowers and mow the lawn. I won’t for get my mini vacation in Aspen and I look forward to doing it again as soon as possible. Pam
