The Official Hotel of the Aspen Summit for Life
Event Description
Aspen Mountain will host the Summit for Life Uphill Race, formally known as Storm
the Stars, the only nighttime endurance event in the Aspen/Snowmass area. Local
enthusiasts and regional sports junkies charge up 3,000 vertical feet to the top
of the mountain using their preferred choice of equipment and lighting. The race
begins at the base of Little Nell, climbs up Aspen Mountain ski area finishing
at the Sundeck Restaurant. The course follows Little Nell to the Bell Mountain
Chair, then proceeds up Bingo Slot to Grand Junction where there will be a comfort
station. The course then proceeds up Spar Gulch to the bottom of Ajax Express
where there will be a second comfort station. The race zig and zags up through
Deer Park to Silverbell and finally finishing at the Sundeck.
Following the race, the general public is invited to join the racers for
a party up at the Sundeck, featuring live music, food and beverages, and an
awards ceremony celebrating the accomplishments of the evening.
For those that don't want to race but still would like to support Summit for Life and the two
Foundations it benefits have two options. They can ride the Silver Queen Gondola
to the top and party at the Sundeck or they can just make a donation to support the cause.
The event will benefit the Chris Klug Foundation and the American Transplant
Foundation.
