The rooms at Hearthstone House Resort are very small. I tried to upgrade to a larger room upon arrival but was told the person I needed to talk to was skiing. I unpacked in my shoebox size room and spent the week there. The hotel is set up so you spend time in the common room over breakfast or afternoon apres ski. I enjoy a more private hotel experience. I felt like everyone knew my business.
Also there were only 3 guests at the hotel so an upgrade would have been no problem. I was never approached to change rooms.
The hotel is located 2 blocks from one of the malls so it is convienent.
I will never stay there again because of the small rooms. For the price I paid I should have had at least a standard size room.

Well-run with outstanding, friendly, helpful staff. Easy walk to the gondola. Cooked-to-order breakfast included. Small but very functional rooms.
Only complaint was the noise from outside -- apparently the city uses Hyman Street to stage snow removal equipment. I'm guessing this was only bad because of the especially heavy snow.
Overall a good value and would return.

Super friendly! Great recommendations on dining & activities like bike rides, etc. Loved Shannon and the wine and cheese! Rooms okay but could use some new carpet & thicker walls.

Stayed in a King Deluxe room; very luxurious. Modern decor, comfortable bed, and a beautiful bathroom. Love the Aveda products. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Lots of choices for breakfast which was delicious especially in the lovely gathering room upstairs. Wish we had made time for the sauna, jacuzzi, and the wine & cheese reception but our stay was perfect already.

Two couples reserved two rooms at the Hearthstone in Jan 2007 for Winterskol. We have only great things to say. Loved the late afternoon wine/cheese, gave us a great opportunity to talk with other guests from around the globe. Felt like home, but much more interesting. Staff was great. Awesome view of the mountain and the fireworks for Winterskol. Easy walk to everything. Our rooms were small, but who cares...you shouldn't be hanging out in your room anyway. If you're interested in a small, interesting, lovely hotel with fun interesting guests and staff, this is your place.

Great Value, interesting architecture--but best of all, the people were most helpful and fun. It was more like visiting someone's home than being in a hotel.
