Top Snowmass Cross-Country Mountain Bike Trails
An intermediate trail that traverses through Aspen groves and fields of wildflowers, the Government Trail is prized by locals. It spans the 19-mile distance between Aspen and Snowmass and links up with all sorts of other mountain bike trails between Buttermilk Mountain and Snowmass Mountain.
Local Tip: Ride the Government as an out-and-back if you are game for a huge ride. Or, catch the bus on whatever end you finish up at and take it back to where you started.
The Rim Trail might be one of the most scenic intermediate rides in the entire Roaring Fork Valley. The invigorating 7.6 mile-long singletrack starts at Spiral Point and ends at the Rodeo Lot, taking riders on a thrilling and memorable ridge-top adventure along the way.
Local Tip: Check out the ying yang stonework and soak in the views at the top of Spiral Point before riding down to the Rodeo Lot.
Sky Mountain Park
A collection of 15 miles of singletrack trails built for riders of various skill levels, Ski Mountain Park is one of the most recently completed cross-country mountain biking attractions in the Roaring Fork Valley. This means the trails are well thought out and maintained. This makes them extra enjoyable to ride.
Local Tip: Don’t miss the gorgeous Skyline Ridge Trail and the amazing views that come along with it.
Top Snowmass Downhill Mountain Bike Trails
The crown jewel of the Snowmass Bike Park
, Valhalla is an exhilarating expert trail with all the banks, berms and features you could want in a downhill ride. It starts at the top of Elk Camp and drops riders 2.8 miles and 1,400 feet all the way to the base of Snowmass.
If you don’t have one, rent a downhill bike and equipment from Four Mountain Sports
to make the most of your time riding Valhalla.
Take in the views atop Snowmass Ski Resort before bombing down the 2.6 mile-long Vapor trail. This expert rated downhill singletrack has big berms and is slightly less buffed-out than Valhalla, making for a technical and lively ride.
Local Tip: Connect with Vapor Trail with Valhalla for a top-to-bottom Snowmass downhill ride like no other.
Not quite ready for Vapor or Valhalla? Jump off the Elk Camp Gondola and onto the Viking trail to fine-tune your skills while getting a taste of all the scenery between Elk Camp and the base of Snowmass. Viking has reasonably sized jumps and features to prepare you for more expert downhill riding.
