Now that the holidays are over, you may think the line-up of entertainment and events has slowed down in Aspen Snowmass. That’s just not the case. If possible after the holiday hustle and bustle, the happenings around town and on-mountain ramp up for the heart of winter.
Here’s what’s happening in Aspen Snowmass this January!
Ullr Nights | Every Friday night on Snowmass
Celebrate the Norse God of Snow, Ullr, with Ullr Nights at Elk Camp on Snowmass
! Enjoy outdoor winter activities such as tubing, riding the new Breathtaker Alpine Coaster, snowbiking, s'mores and hot chocolate by the bonfire. Dance to live music and enjoy an a la carte culinary celebration sure to please any palate. After playing in the snow, kids can warm up inside with fun activities and entertainment available downstairs in The Tent.
Uphill Breakfast Club | Every Friday morning on Buttermilk
Every Friday morning beginning January 4, the Cliffhouse restaurant, located at the top of Buttermilk Mountain, will play host to a Friday Morning Uphill Breakfast Club
! Skin, snowshoe, splitboard, or hike up Buttermilk for a delicious breakfast with a view. We recommend the French Toast!
Winterskol | January 10-13
Celebrate Aspen’s unique Nordic lifestyle with the 67th annual Wintersköl™ weekend
. Activities include a soup cook-off, Canine Fashion Show, WinterFest, snow sculptures, fat bike race, fireworks, bonfire, film screenings and much more!
Sundown on the Sundeck on Aspen | January 11
Ski Aspen Mountain until the sun sets, then head up to the Sundeck for a party under the stars
on select dates throughout the winter! Hang out at the Sundeck after your day of skiing/riding or purchase a $10 foot pass to ride the Silver Queen Gondola after 4 pm. Enjoy apres-ski drink specials, s'mores, food, and live entertainment. Food and drinks will be served until 8:30 pm, and the last gondola ride down is at 9 pm.
Aspen Gay Ski Week | January 13-20
Aspen Gay Ski Week (AGSW)
is the oldest annual, weeklong gay ski event in the nation. Events throughout the week include mountain gatherings, daily apres ski, nightly dinners, dance parties, film events, fashion shows, comedy shows, pool parties, a Downhill Costume Competition, and so much more. Be sure to get your passes today to take part in all the fun!
A model for other gay ski weeks, AGSW isn’t just a party and it’s not only about skiing and riding, it’s also a non-profit fundraiser for AspenOUT. AspenOUT is a local non-profit and 501C3 organization focused on anti-bullying and tolerance.
Full Moon Cliffhouse Dinner | January 20
Load up the kids or grab your friends and join locals and visitors alike for this fun community event. Skin or hike up Tiehack under the light of a full moon
for dinner or drinks at Cliffhouse! Get there early to enjoy free hot chocolate from 5-6pm. The Cliffhouse will be open from 5–8pm.
Aspen Winter X Games | January 24-27
The world's best action sports, music and festival experience on snow returns to Buttermilk, January 24-27, 2019 - the 2019 Aspen Winter X Games
! All sport competitions are free and open to the public. X Games Aspen will host musical performances by Lil Wayne, Louis The Child, The Chainsmokers and Kygo as they take the stage alongside the most progressive winter athletes at Buttermilk Mountain.
