Event Details

Grand Cochon, the epic finale to the 10-city touring culinary competition, will crown its King or Queen of Porc at the Viceroy Snowmass during the week of the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen onSaturday evening, June 20th. The event brings together the ten winning chefs of the regional competitions and ten pigs for a nose-to-tail culinary showdown. More than 2,000 pounds of heritage pork raised by American family farms will be served to a crowd of 20 celebrity chefs and 400 pork-loving epicureans. The grand champion will be rewarded with a 4-day wine experience in Rioja, Spain’s most prominent wine region. New in 2015, the winner's kitchen countertops will be resurfaced with Wilsonart® Quartz decorative surfacing, a remarkable, beautifully engineered stone material from America's countertop leader. Tickets for general admission are $150 for 7:45pm entry, and VIP tickets for early admission are $200 for entry at 7:00pm sharp. The event is all-inclusive and includes endless food and drink. For convenience, complimentary shuttles from Aspen will depart every 10 minutes from Ruby Park and will start one hour before peak event times. The shuttles will register our guests and provide complimentary beverages during the 12-14 minute trip up to Snowmass.

This year’s winners and competing chefs include Francis Derby of The Cannibal (NYC), Mark Decker of DownHouse (Houston), Jody Adams of Rialto/TRADE (Boston), Thomas Boemer of Corner Table (Minneapolis), Matt Vawter of Mercantile dining & provision (Denver), Danny Lee of Mandu (D.C.), Walter Manzke of Republique (L.A.),David Bazirgan of Dirty Habit (San Francisco), Lindsay Autry of Fin & Feather (Miami) and Nicole Pederson ofFound Kitchen (Chicago).

This fairy-tale heritage pork event includes more than 2,000 pounds of heritage breed pork showcased by the best 30dishes that won the chefs their regional competition and passage to Snowmass/Aspen. Guests will enjoy the Breckenridge Experience including the “Last Call” cocktail booth featuring the National Winner of Punch Kings, Smoked Old Fashioned’s, a very special Vodka and Caviar tasting as well as pop-up demos featuring renowned tattoo artists Darren Brass and Jose Santiago of Miami Ink tattooing heritage breed hams. Guests will experience notable tastings from Wines from Rioja, Whistle Pig Rye and the Perfect Manhattan Experience presented by Groupon with Breckenridge Bourbon, Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Hirsch, Luxardo and a specially cured garnish by Creminelli Fine Meats. Cochon’s “pop-up” culinary experiences include the Petit Format Bar presented by Wilsonart® Quartz decorative surfacing, Bacon Hall of Fame presented by Maggy Hawk Vineyards, the Mezcal Chupito Bar with Mezcales de Leyenda, Fidencio, La Venenosa and Koch el Mezcal, the Artisan Cheese Bar presented by Cured Boulder, the Oyster Shelf presented by Rappahannock River Oysters, the famous TarTare Bar featuring Creekstone Farms, the Rioja Tapas Bar featuring the delicacies of Agromar, the Official Chef’s Pantry courtesy of Chef’sWarehouse and Williams-Sonoma. This notable group of local and national sponsors will be hosting exceptional experiences from Prosciutto di Parma, Black River Caviar, Creminelli, Drew Estate Cigars, Beecher’s Handmade Cheese and La Brea Bakery.

These two spectacular events are a highlight of our Snowmassive Summer."

Additionally, this year, Heritage Fire by Cochon 555 will also join the ranks of offerings this summer during the week of the Classic in Aspen. This premier hyper-local, whole animal, live-fire, food and wine event continues the celebration of breed diversity and family farming. Heritage Fire features chefs and farmers working together to spotlight traditional outdoor cooking techniques paired with amazing wines, craft beers, and amazing spirits. The list of heritage and heirloom foods to be featured include dry-aged beef from Creekstone Farms, whole pigs, lambs, goat, lobster, squab, rabbit, duck, chicken, artisan cheeses, oysters and heirloom vegetables paired with the best beverages.

Tickets are $150 GA plus $5.95 service fee/ $200 VIP plus $8 service fee. Locals, receive a discount of $15 by using a local credit card + zip.

Shuttle Service

If you are in Aspen and will be attending Grand Cochon in Snowmass - we will be providing a free shuttle service from Wagner Park (corner of Dean Avenue and Monarch) to Viceroy Snowmass. We will have a delightful Cochon Rose, you will pre-register for the event and walk right into action upon arrival. The shuttles will be brand Blazing Adventures, and the location will be marked with black tear-drop banners that say “Pig Pick Up”. Each shuttle will have a Grand Cochon registration staff person to check you in prior to arrival. The shuttle is free.
